Spectacle Lenses

What type of lenses do we use?

We use Essilor and Nikon lenses which are rated as some of the finest quality spectacle lenses available in the world of optics. The quality of the coating and the lenses themselves have been developed over many years of research and the quality continues to improve. There are cheaper lenses available, however the overall quality does not live up to superiority of the Essilor and Nikon lenses.

During your eye test, we will discuss refractive lenses and the thickness of the lens itself and give you an idea of how they will fit / look in your frame. Some common practices are:

  • For prescriptions of +2.50, grind lenses are recommended
  • For prescriptions of -3.00, high index are recommended
  • For nylon and rimless frames, high index (1.6 – 1.67) are recommended

Our multifocal lenses include the latest and best from Varilux S Series from Essilor. The innovative new ocular technology from Essilor is now available to patients. The benefits include a 90% reduction of the swim effect and a 50% increase in binocular vision fields when compared to premium lenses.

Your happiness with the product is our priority so we will contact you if any doubts or concerns arise.

Yes. Prisms can be implemented if your prescription requires.

What lens coatings do we offer?

All of our lenses come with 100% UV Protection Coating and our standard lenses have a Scratch Resistant coating. If you wish, you can also upgrade to an Anti-Glare coating (still includes a Scratch Resistant coating).

What is Scratch Resistant Coating?

Our lenses are protected with a Super Hard Coating on both sides and therefore a very durable. The coating does not prevent deep scratches, but can diminish small scratches that would usually inflict damage in daily use.

What is Anti-Reflective Coating? How does it work?

Crizal Prevencia, is our premium Anti-Glare Coating and is excellent for computer use and night driving. It works by filtering Blue-Violet light that can be harmful to your retinal cells in your eyes. In addition to this, light does not reflect off the lens, therefore your friends and family will be able to see your eyes clearly through the lenses.

Please visit their website for more information: www.crizalprevencia.com
